It's odd to think that some ladies run their lives around
these beauty pageant shows. They boast the American lifestyle with it being the
home of pageant shows. Girls of all ages running riot with a trail of glitter
floating behind them. Far too many ruffles for any person to handle. Hair
that's too big to even explain it. And you don't want to start on the amount of
perfume, fake tan and hairspray fumes.
Those will be the exact fumes whizzing round the air in
Tokyo's in Lincoln soon. All the Miss Lincolnshire hopefuls will flood in
through the doors (it wouldn't be surprising if they were queuing up in their
pink powder puff onsie's!) They’ll probably have a suitcase for each outfit, a
suitcase for make-up and a one for hairspray. But, let’s face it, this is all
very stereotypical stuff.
The world of pageants is a one which has so many divided
opinions. While some become delirious in the atmosphere others are extremely
dismissive. Both parties have good points in their arguments, but so, so many
of us still remain undecided in the middle of this glitter-field.
Yes, it is something good to be up there in the limelight
and quite literally feeling and looking like the ultimate princess. And it’s
something to be proud of when you achieve the medals and trophies. It gives the
girls a good sense of sportsmanship and determination for the rest of their
lives.
The other side is that this is too much pressure, not matter
what the age. It’s just all a little over the top and just far too much. Nobody
ever really thinks about the amount of money that goes into these things. The strain
on their parents must be something! Geez! And it can also have a negative effect
on the girls’ personalities and attitudes.
Without a doubt beauty pageants and contests will always
bring money and publicity into the town they are hosted in. there’s always good
turn outs and contestants pour in year after year. And people are interested,
even if it’s just to tune in to moan about how bad these things are. They’ll do
it.
It is all a little over obsessive don’t you think? But hey,
they seem to beam their smiles out there and relish in the fuss over them, so
why not just let them get on with it?
So, I’m not sure about you but I’m always the one who’ll be
prepared to don the glitter and powder puff dresses! But, I’ll leave you to
ponder on this one…
