In relation to my last post..
Who else was hit with the icy blast today? Having read an article on the Daily Mail Online, it is predicted that another 4 inches of snow is going to fall in parts of the country. But almost all areas of Britain have been hit with the weather shock. We were all warned before about the Scandinavian pressures bringing us a really cold snap. But I think I may speak for a lot when I say we weren't 100% sure these predictions would actually hit us.
With living on a steep hill, I can say my concerns are fair. The gritter made an appearance last night at around 23:00 and then it was never to be seen. The flurries hit Lincoln quite heavily today at approximately 13:00 and refused to stop for hours. Needless to say, I was witness to a large number of people meeting the ground with their bottoms! The biggest issue was the cars on the roads! Seeing them slide down at acute degree angles and their brake systems powerless to stop the sliding. In hind sight, I should have taken some photos to document. But it was hard to leave the window!
In other places, there's been pile up's on the motorway (M4 into London). Greater Anglia trains have been critized by taking 24 trains off duty claiming the snow may damage the engines and track side equipment.Newcastle Airport has seen snow ploughs throughout the day, keeping the runways open. The Yorkshire Dales are completely transformed with the white coating. It's now due to fall mainly over eastern parts of England.
However, snow isn't all bad! Look at some of these pretty stock images of landscapes and cities dusted with frosting! Beautiful!
