6 O'clock Q.

So, this week; the question is;

Q: Are you a left hand or a right hand?

Okay, so...

I know it has absolutely nothing to do with clothing, fashion, beauty or art directly. But it's always been the myth that lefties are that little bit more creative than righters. It's something that has always played on my mind for years. More so because I'm a lefty, and there was never many other lefties in any of my classes when i was at school and college. But at uni, we seem to have subconsciously congregated together as there's a lot of lefties!

Is it really true that lefties are the more creative? All designers and artists are not lefties! Exactly how many are there?!

Here's some quick facts about the hand you write with to give your minds a bit of a juicing!

Lefties:

  • Make up between 5% and 10% of the population (depending on who you ask)
  • More likely to have allergies
  • More prone to migraines
  • More likely to be insomniacs
  • Use the right side of the brain the most
  • Three times more likely to become alcoholics – the right side of the brain has a lower tolerance to alcohol!
  • More likely to be on extreme poles of the intelligence scale
  • Tend to reach puberty 4 to 5 months later than right handers
  • More likely to suffer stuttering and dyslexia
  • Twice as likely to be a man
  • Better at 3D perception and thinking
  • Better at multi-tasking
  • Live on average 9 years less than right handed people
  • 39% more likely to be homosexual

All these famous people are left handed:
Presidents George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama; Prince Charles and Prince William of England; musicians Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Paul McCartney; scientists Isaac Newton, Marie Curie and Benjamin Franklin; artists Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci; and historical figures Alexander the Great, Charlemagne and Julius Ceasar.
